Where it came from
Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft, often abbreviated as DDSH, is a long-running German comic book series published by Ehapa Verlag. Debuting in 1965, the series was created to provide a dedicated home for the works of legendary Disney artist Carl Barks, whose stories had previously been scattered across various German publications. The collection is highly regarded by European comic historians for its role in establishing the 'Duck' universe as a cornerstone of German pop culture literature.
The series design is defined by its focus on high-quality storytelling rather than short gags, prioritizing the expansive, adventurous narratives for which Barks and later creators like Don Rosa became famous. Issue #422 continues this legacy of curating top-tier Disney comic art within a compact, recognizable format. While the series has evolved over decades, it remains a consistent fixture for collectors who appreciate the archival quality of its layout and its commitment to preserving the creative history of Disney's animated stable.
