Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft #408

Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft, often referred to as the 'DDSH' by enthusiasts, originated in the mid-1960s as a premium-format publication designed to showcase high-quality Disney comic stories in Germany. Published by Ehapa, this series became a cornerstone for European readers by curating long-form narratives that often featured the work of renowned creators like Carl Barks and Don Rosa. The format was intentionally curated to provide a more sophisticated reading experience than the standard weekly Mickey Mouse comics, focusing on thematic depth and artistic excellence.

Issue #408 fits into the long-standing tradition of this series, which maintains a distinct aesthetic characterized by its digest-sized format and high-contrast printing. By the time this issue was produced, the series had firmly established itself as a scholarly touchstone for comic fans in the German-speaking world. The design philosophy throughout the run has remained consistent, prioritizing a clean, classic presentation that emphasizes the expressive character acting of the artists over flashy cover art, securing its place as a reliable vessel for the Disney legacy.
