Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme #15

Published in March 1990, Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme #15 emerged during a period of transition for Marvel’s mystical line. The series was designed to reposition the titular character following the conclusion of the Doctor Strange solo title, aiming to modernize Stephen Strange's place within the evolving Marvel Universe while maintaining the dark, surreal aesthetic established in the character's 1960s origins. This particular issue continues the ongoing narrative threads of the era, focusing on the intricate interplay between mundane reality and the encroaching threats of the occult.

The issue features scripting by Roy Thomas and Dann Thomas, with artwork by Jackson Guice and Tony Dezuniga. The creative team sought to balance the character’s classic contemplative nature with the high-stakes, action-oriented pacing common to Marvel comics of the early 1990s. Guice’s illustrations, noted for their detailed linework and dramatic sense of scale, were intended to emphasize the cosmic and often unsettling atmosphere of the Sorcerer Supreme's domain, finding a receptive audience among readers interested in the darker, more esoteric corners of comic book storytelling.
