Dragon Ball Chāo: Qīlóngzhū Chāo #17

Dragon Ball Super, known in Japan as Dragon Ball Chō, serves as the direct canonical continuation of Akira Toriyama's original Dragon Ball manga. Issue #17 marks a pivotal point in the series, bridging the gap between the major narrative arcs of the anime and the manga's own distinct pacing. It was produced to satisfy a global demand for new adventures featuring Goku and his allies, focusing on the expanded cosmology of the multiverse and the introduction of new deities that redefined the power hierarchy established in the original run.

The character designs and core narrative direction were overseen by Akira Toriyama, with illustrative work provided by Toyotarou, who has become widely recognized for his ability to emulate Toriyama's dynamic action sequences. The issue represents the collaborative effort to translate Toriyama's original story drafts into the monthly serialized format. Upon release, it was received as a essential piece of modern shonen history, praised by fans for maintaining the spirit of the 1980s classic while introducing the more refined, high-stakes aesthetic of contemporary manga.
