Where it came from
The Shinsō Sairokuban edition of Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibōken was published by Shueisha to coincide with the revival of the franchise through its 2020 anime adaptation. This series repackages the original 1989 manga by Riku Sanjo and Koji Inada into a premium, larger format, featuring new cover illustrations by Inada and collected revisions intended to provide a more comprehensive reading experience for both long-time fans and new audiences introduced by the television series.
Koji Inada’s updated cover art for the eleventh volume maintains the high-fantasy aesthetic that defined the original work while reflecting the clean, modern sensibilities expected of high-end reprint collections. These volumes were received as a definitive way to experience the saga, balancing the nostalgic charm of the 1990s Shonen Jump serial with the editorial refinements made possible by modern printing techniques.
