Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibōken - Shinsō Sairokuban #18

The Shinsō Sairokuban edition of Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibōken was published by Shueisha beginning in 2020 to commemorate the release of the updated anime adaptation. This particular volume, issue number 18, serves as a premium, larger-format reprint of the original 1989 manga series created by writer Riku Sanjo and illustrator Koji Inada. The design aesthetic for this release was intended to evoke a sense of nostalgia for veteran readers while providing a high-quality, comprehensive archival experience for a new generation of fans.

Koji Inada’s illustrations for the series are renowned for their dynamic, expressive character designs that seamlessly bridge the gap between classic Shonen Jump tropes and the distinct visual identity of the Dragon Quest video game series. The Shinsō Sairokuban volumes are noted for their updated cover art and improved print quality, which highlights the evolution of Inada's linework over the original run. Upon its release, this archival set was well-received by collectors who sought a definitive, durable way to own the sprawling epic of Dai and his companions.
