Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibōken - Shinsō Sairokuban #20

The Shinsō Sairokuban edition of Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibōken was published by Shueisha beginning in 2020 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the original manga. This deluxe reprint series was designed to collect the entirety of Riku Sanjo and Koji Inada’s epic fantasy saga into a refined format, featuring new cover illustrations by Inada that offer a modern aesthetic while honoring the series' classic roots. The twentieth volume serves as a significant installment in this twenty-five-volume run, which was released to coincide with the broadcast of the 2020 anime adaptation.

The design of this edition emphasizes a premium reading experience, utilizing larger dimensions and high-quality paper to showcase the kinetic, detailed art style that defined the series during its initial run in Weekly Shōnen Jump. By consolidating the narrative into this cohesive set, the publishers aimed to reintroduce the story to long-time fans while making it accessible to a new generation of readers. The series remains a cornerstone of the Dragon Quest franchise’s expanded universe, praised for its tight pacing and successful blend of traditional role-playing game mechanics with the conventions of the shonen action genre.
