ElfQuest: Blood of Ten Chiefs #20

ElfQuest: Blood of Ten Chiefs was an anthology series published by WaRP Graphics and later Marvel Comics, serving as a spin-off to Wendy and Richard Pini’s foundational fantasy epic. The series explored the prehistory of the World of Two Moons, focusing on the ancestral struggles of the Wolfriders during their earliest encounters with other sentient races. Issue #20 was released during the latter years of the series' run, which sought to expand the lore beyond the primary narrative arc of the original quest.

The visual storytelling of ElfQuest is defined by Wendy Pini’s distinct, dynamic art style, which blends classical fantasy aesthetics with a kinetic, manga-influenced energy. In this particular issue, the narrative team continued the tradition of character-driven myth-building that had turned the series into an independent comic phenomenon in the late 1970s and 1980s. While the spin-off titles were often subject to the shifting distribution landscape of independent comics during the 1990s, they remained a cherished expansion for the dedicated readership established by the original graphic novels.
