Fantastic Four: First Foes - Dragon Man #1

Fantastic Four: First Foes - Dragon Man #1 was published by Marvel Comics as part of the First Foes anthology series, which sought to spotlight the complex history of the villains who defined the early years of the Fantastic Four. Released to satisfy fan interest in the foundational rogues' gallery of the Marvel Universe, the issue serves as a retrospective and a modern reintroduction to Dragon Man, the sentient android created by the brilliant yet unstable Professor Gregson Gilbert.

The character of Dragon Man, originally appearing in the mid-1960s, was designed by Jack Kirby as a tragic figure that juxtaposed primitive monstrous aesthetics with sophisticated technological origins. This specific issue leans into those classic design sensibilities while updating the narrative arc for contemporary readers, exploring the inherent tension between the android's destructive power and his capacity for unprogrammed emotional development.
