Fortune Quest #7

Fortune Quest #7 was released in the early 1990s as part of the ongoing fantasy adventure series published by Comico. Created by writer Mike Baron and artist Dave Ross, the series emerged during a period of high interest in independent fantasy comics. The narrative follows a group of adventurers navigating a world inspired by tabletop role-playing game mechanics, a design choice intended to capture the camaraderie and tactical problem-solving inherent in those gaming communities.

The visual language of the issue relies on Dave Ross’s clean, dynamic linework, which was characteristic of the era's approach to action-oriented storytelling. The series was generally well-received by readers looking for lighthearted escapism that diverged from the darker superhero tropes dominating the mainstream market at the time. It remains a notable example of the creative experimentation within the independent comic scene of its decade.
