Where it came from
Released as part of the Frankenstein: New World—The Speed of Darkness limited series, this issue continues a modern interpretation of Mary Shelley’s iconic monster. Produced within the broader landscape of contemporary comic book horror, the series explores themes of isolation and existence, situating the character within a heightened, action-oriented narrative framework that updates the gothic origins of the source material for modern readers.
The creative direction for this series focuses on dynamic, gritty visual storytelling, emphasizing the monstrous nature of the protagonist through bold linework and atmospheric color palettes. By blending classic creature-feature aesthetics with contemporary graphic novel pacing, the design team sought to capture the tragic duality of the character, earning modest attention from long-time fans of the Frankenstein mythos for its stylistic commitment to the genre.
