Gekijōban - Mahō Shōjo Madoka☆Magica: [Shinpen] Hangyaku no Monogatari #3

This item is a theater-distributed illustration card, or 'shikishi,' from the 2013 film Gekijōban Mahō Shōjo Madoka☆Magica: [Shinpen] Hangyaku no Monogatari. These collectibles were produced as limited-edition promotional gifts for cinema patrons in Japan during the film's initial theatrical run. As part of a rotating series of weekly giveaways, they were designed to incentivize repeat attendance and reward the dedicated fan base that had followed the franchise since its 2011 television debut.

The visual direction for the film's promotional materials and accompanying merchandise was overseen by the animation studio Shaft, under the creative vision of director Akiyuki Shinbo and character designer Ume Aoki. The artwork reflects the series' signature juxtaposition of ethereal, dreamlike character designs against the surreal, avant-garde background art typical of the studio's production style. These items were widely received by the fan community as sought-after artifacts of the series' transition from a cult television hit to a major cinematic success.
