G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #10

Released in early 1983, G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #10 was part of the foundational run of Marvel Comics' adaptation of the Hasbro action figure line. Written by Larry Hama, who served as the primary architect for the franchise's lore, the series was designed to provide a cohesive backstory for the characters that moved beyond simple toy marketing. This issue focuses on the tension within the Joe team and their ongoing struggle against the terrorist organization Cobra, reflecting the Cold War era sensibilities that defined the brand's early narrative direction.

The interior art for this period was primarily handled by Herb Trimpe, whose gritty, kinetic style helped establish the visual language for the comic book series. Readers at the time responded well to the grounded, military-inspired tone Hama infused into the scripts, which differentiated it from the more traditional caped superhero fare prevalent in the comic market during the early 1980s. The issue remains a notable entry in the series for its role in expanding the G.I. Joe mythos and solidifying the character dynamics that would persist for years.
