G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #109 Hama Files Edition #1

The G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero series, published by Marvel Comics starting in 1982, was originally conceived as a promotional vehicle for Hasbro's revitalized toy line. Larry Hama, the series' primary writer and a veteran, was instrumental in transforming the flat character bios from the toy packaging into a complex, cohesive military narrative. Issue #109, originally released in 1991, holds a specific place in the series' arc, and the Hama Files editions were later released to provide fans with reprints and behind-the-scenes insights into the creative process.

The design of the Hama Files editions focuses on retrospective documentation, aiming to preserve the detailed continuity Hama established over the course of his long tenure on the title. By pairing the classic internal pages with supplemental materials such as Hama's original character notes and script outlines, these editions serve as a formal archive of the creative intent behind the franchise. They were received primarily as a resource for dedicated enthusiasts looking to understand the narrative scaffolding of the Joe universe beyond the monthly stories.
