G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #117 Hama Files Edition #1

The G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero series, published by Marvel Comics, originated in 1982 to support Hasbro’s relaunched action figure line. Larry Hama, the series' primary writer, was instrumental in shaping the lore and personalities of the characters, creating a complex military narrative that distinguished the comic from the contemporaneous animated series. Issue #117, originally released in 1991, featured the intricate, character-driven storytelling that defined Hama's tenure and solidified the franchise's lasting impact on pop culture.

The Hama Files Edition is a later, specialized reprint series designed to offer fans a definitive collection of the classic run. These editions were curated to present the stories with updated presentation while retaining the original artwork, which was largely defined by artists like Ron Wagner and Herb Trimpe. The design intent was to provide historical context for long-time readers and newcomers alike, and it was received as a respectful tribute to the depth and longevity of the G.I. Joe mythos.
