G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #14

Published in August 1983 by Marvel Comics, G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #14 was part of the foundational run that expanded the lore of the Hasbro toy line into a cohesive narrative universe. Written by Larry Hama, the architect of the franchise's mythology, this issue arrived during a period when the comic was successfully bridging the gap between a simple action-figure gimmick and a complex military drama. It helped establish the tactical tone and character dynamics that would define the series for over a decade.

The cover and interior art reflect the house style of early 1980s Marvel, characterized by dynamic action panels and detailed character designs intended to mirror the aesthetic of the 3.75-inch figures. By issue 14, Hama was deeply involved in creating the backstories for the various Joes, often utilizing the comic to fill in the personality gaps left by the limited card-back biographies provided by Hasbro. The issue was well-received by readers at the time, solidifying the book's reputation as a standout licensed title that possessed more creative depth than many of its contemporaries.
