Guardians of the Galaxy #61

Guardians of the Galaxy #61 was published by Marvel Comics in May 1995 as part of the original Guardians of the Galaxy series that launched in 1990. Written by Michael Gallagher with pencils by Kevin West, this issue occurred during a period where the creative team was heavily focused on expanding the cosmic lore of the Marvel 31st-century timeline, specifically involving the group's conflict with the Badoon and the intricate political machinations of the galaxy.

The art style of the mid-1990s Guardians run was characterized by the high-energy, detail-oriented aesthetic typical of the era, aiming to maintain a sense of epic space opera scale despite the series nearing its conclusion. While the original 1990s Guardians title was considered a cult classic rather than a top-tier seller at the time, it is historically significant for establishing the foundation that the modern Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise would later reinterpret, illustrating the evolution of these characters from niche sci-fi protagonists to mainstream cultural icons.
