Hourman #12

Hourman #12, published in early 2000 by DC Comics, serves as a significant entry in the short-lived solo series centered on the android incarnation of Hourman. This title was part of a concerted effort by the publisher to modernize legacy heroes, following the character's introduction in the JLA series written by Grant Morrison. The narrative focuses on the internal struggles of the android as he grapples with his programming and his desire to understand humanity through the legacy of the original Rex Tyler.

The creative direction for this series was led by writer Tom Peyer, who utilized the book to explore philosophical questions regarding artificial intelligence and heroism. Rags Morales provided the artistic vision for much of the run, crafting a clean, expressive style that balanced the mechanical nature of the lead with a sense of emotional depth. While the series was critically respected for its wit and character development, it struggled to maintain a broad audience, leading to its cancellation shortly after this issue was released.
