Hourman #2

Hourman number two was published in June 1999 as part of the DC Comics line featuring the android version of the character. This iteration, known as Matthew Tyler, was created by Tom Peyer and Rags Morales during the late nineties, a period when DC was actively experimenting with legacy heroes and conceptual reboots. The series was designed to explore the philosophical implications of a time-manipulating automaton navigating human emotions and the complexities of the Justice Society of America.

The art and narrative approach for this issue sought to balance traditional superhero tropes with a more contemplative, character-driven tone. Rags Morales provided the visual foundation, emphasizing the character's metallic, somewhat stiff aesthetic contrasted against his increasingly human-like expressions. While the series did not achieve the mainstream longevity of marquee titles, it remains highly regarded by fans of late-nineties DC for its distinctive creative direction and the introspective nature of Peyer's writing.
