Il Giornalino #v. 87 no. 36

Il Giornalino is a long-running Italian weekly magazine for young readers, originally founded in 1924 by the Society of St. Paul. Its publication history is deeply intertwined with Italian Catholic media, serving as a pillar of educational and moral guidance for generations of children. The magazine transitioned through various artistic eras, maintaining its relevance by balancing serial comics, historical features, and news reporting, effectively becoming a cultural touchstone for Italian families throughout the 20th century.

The publication was renowned for its high production values and its role as a talent incubator for prominent Italian illustrators and writers. The creative direction generally favored a mix of classical illustration and dynamic comic strip narratives, often curated to appeal to a broad demographic of youth. In its later years, the magazine reflected a modern design sensibility that preserved its classic identity while adapting to the evolving aesthetic expectations of a younger, increasingly digital audience.
