It Takes More Than a Pretty Face to Fall in Love #5

It Takes More Than a Pretty Face to Fall in Love, known in Japan as 'Kawaii dake ja nai onnanoko,' is a manga series created by Keigo Maki. Originally serialized in Kodansha's Magazine Pocket starting in 2019, the series fits squarely within the romantic comedy genre. It was developed to explore the dynamic between two high school students whose relationship unfolds through specific, often humorous situations that challenge conventional social expectations.

The series design and character illustrations are marked by a clean, modern aesthetic that emphasizes expressive facial features to convey shifting emotional states. Maki's work is widely recognized for its pacing and the balance between comedic timing and genuine sentiment. Since its debut, the series has received positive feedback for its subversion of traditional character tropes, leading to its expansion into a multi-volume print run and a subsequent anime adaptation.
