Justice League Task Force #0

Justice League Task Force #0 was released in October 1994 as part of DC Comics' company-wide 'Zero Month' initiative. Following the conclusion of the Zero Hour: Crisis in Time crossover event, DC released a number zero issue for nearly every ongoing series to clarify origins, introduce new status quos, or provide a fresh jumping-on point for readers. This specific issue served to reset the narrative trajectory for the Task Force team following the massive editorial restructuring that took place across the publisher's lineup.

The issue was written by Christopher Priest, then working under the pseudonym Jim Owsley, with art by Sal Velluto and Jeff Albrecht. Priest utilized the zero issue format to deepen the characterization of the team’s leader, Martian Manhunter, and to tighten the interpersonal dynamics of the rotating roster. The design and storytelling approach favored a more grounded, tactical aesthetic that distinguished the title from the more traditional Justice League International era, and it was received by readers as a pivotal point for the series' transition into the mid-nineties DC landscape.
