Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary #6

Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary, authored by the artist Jona, originated as a viral horror-comedy manga serialized through the digital platform Ganma!. The series focuses on the titular kindergartner, Kaya, whose unnerving, supernatural abilities and grim expressions contrast sharply with the cozy setting of a nursery school. Issue number 6 continues the established narrative arc, maintaining the series' signature blend of comedic misunderstanding and genuine, unsettling horror tropes that have defined its success since its debut.

The aesthetic of the series is rooted in the juxtaposition of 'cute' character design and grotesque supernatural imagery. Jona’s illustration style utilizes clean, expressive lines to capture Kaya’s stoic, wide-eyed demeanor, which frequently serves as the visual punchline for the story's dark humor. Upon its release, the series garnered a dedicated following for its ability to balance lighthearted school life antics with genuinely creepy atmosphere, solidifying its place as a distinct entry in contemporary Japanese horror-comedy manga.
