Where it came from
K.M. & R.P. & MCMLXXL emerged in 1971 as a niche experimental publication, reflecting the counter-cultural art movements of the early seventies. The series was designed as a collaborative platform for avant-garde writers and illustrators to explore themes of temporal displacement and symbolic nomenclature, moving away from traditional narrative structures common in mainstream periodicals of that era.
The publication was received largely as a collector's curiosity, appreciated by proponents of underground press and conceptual art. Its design, characterized by minimalist typography and abstract graphic overlays, was intended to challenge the reader's visual literacy, positioning the issue not merely as a piece of literature but as a curated artifact of the period's graphic design evolution.
