Knights of Sidonia, Master Edition #7

Knights of Sidonia, originally serialized in Kodansha's Afternoon magazine between 2009 and 2015, represents the space opera vision of Tsutomu Nihei. The Master Edition series was released by Vertical Comics to provide a definitive, large-format reading experience, carefully curated to showcase Nihei's signature architectural precision and sparse, haunting aesthetic. Volume seven continues the saga’s intense focus on the crew of the Sidonia, blending hard science fiction themes with complex character development as humanity struggles against the encroaching Gauna threat.

The design of the Master Edition series was intended to elevate Nihei's distinct monochromatic style, utilizing high-quality paper stock and premium bindings that honor his background in architecture. By presenting the sprawling battles and claustrophobic interiors in a larger trim size, the collection emphasizes the stark, atmospheric quality that defined the original run. Upon its release, the Master Edition was lauded by critics for its durability and its ability to render the intricate, often cavernous vistas of the Sidonia with greater clarity than previous editions.
