Where it came from
La Zorra y el Cuervo was a beloved Cuban humor magazine that drew its primary inspiration from the famous Aesop's fable of The Fox and the Crow. Established in the mid-1960s, the publication became a cornerstone of Cuban popular culture, utilizing satire and comic strips to comment on everyday life and social dynamics within the country. It served as a vital platform for national illustrators and writers, providing a consistent outlet for political and social commentary that resonated deeply with the local readership.
The design and artistic direction of the magazine were rooted in the tradition of classic cartooning, characterized by expressive line work and character-driven humor. The issue numbering system reflected its longevity as a recurring staple on newsstands, with issue 129 fitting into a period where the magazine had firmly solidified its visual language. Critics and readers alike praised the series for its accessibility and its ability to blend whimsical characters with sharp, observational wit, maintaining its relevance for decades.
