Where it came from
La Zorra y el Cuervo was a prominent Cuban comic book series centered on the antics of a fox and a crow, drawing inspiration from the classic Aesop fable. Published during the height of the series' popularity, the magazine served as a staple of youth literature in Cuba, blending humor with moralistic storytelling. It was produced by the state-run publishing house Editorial Pablo de la Torriente Brau, which played a critical role in promoting national cartoonists and fostering a unique visual language for the island’s periodicals.
The character designs were deeply influenced by international animation styles of the mid-20th century while retaining a distinct, locally-informed personality. Issue 155 reflects the artistic shift of the era, where illustrators balanced educational themes with slapstick humor to appeal to children. The series was highly regarded for its accessibility and consistency, eventually becoming a cultural touchstone that spanned several decades of Cuban domestic media.
