Where it came from
La Zorra y el Cuervo was a prominent Cuban satirical comic series centered on the classic Aesop-inspired dynamic between a cunning fox and a cynical crow. Published by the Editorial Capitán San Luis, the series became a staple of Cuban popular culture throughout the latter half of the 20th century. Issue 168 represents the height of the publication's reach, serving as a medium for both whimsical humor and sharp social commentary that resonated with the daily experiences of its readership.
The character designs were heavily influenced by the aesthetic traditions of European and Soviet political cartoons, emphasizing expressive line work and minimalist backgrounds. The creative team aimed to balance slapstick physical comedy with allegorical narratives, ensuring the series remained accessible to children while offering layers of satire for adults. Over the decades, the series solidified its place as a significant contribution to Latin American graphic storytelling, documented by its enduring legacy in Cuban literary archives.
