La Zorra y el Cuervo #17

La Zorra y el Cuervo was a prominent Cuban humor magazine that debuted in the 1960s, serving as a vital platform for political satire and social commentary. The publication drew its title from the classic Aesop fable, repurposing the fox and the crow as archetypal characters to navigate the complex landscape of post-revolutionary Cuban society. Issue #17 stands as a testament to the mid-era evolution of the magazine, which shifted periodically in its visual aesthetic to reflect the changing tides of graphic art and state-sanctioned editorial direction.

The design of these issues relied heavily on caricature and minimalist ink-work, favored for their ability to convey biting wit within the technical constraints of Cuban print media of the period. Contributors to the magazine included some of the most celebrated illustrators and satirists in the country, who sought to balance the demands of institutional alignment with a distinct, often irreverent artistic voice. The series remains highly regarded by collectors of Latin American graphic arts for its archival value in documenting the evolution of socialist-era humor and visual storytelling.
