La Zorra y el Cuervo #173

La Zorra y el Cuervo was a prominent Cuban comic magazine that began publication in the late 1960s, serving as a staple of youth culture and socialist-era print media. It featured a rotating cast of anthropomorphic characters, drawing heavily from the classic fable tradition while adapting them to reflect the specific social and educational values of the time. The publication was managed by the Editorial Abril and provided a unique platform for Cuban illustrators to blend humor with morality tales.

Issue 173 reflects the distinct visual style developed by the magazine's long-running team of staff artists, who emphasized simple, bold linework and expressive character designs that could be easily reproduced for a wide audience. The title characters, based on Aesop’s fables, were reimagined with localized sensibilities that made the stories accessible to generations of young readers. While these issues were primarily ephemeral reading material at the time of their release, they are now collected as significant artifacts of mid-century Caribbean graphic design and historical communication strategies.
