La Zorra y el Cuervo #197

La Zorra y el Cuervo was a prominent Cuban comic magazine that rose to prominence during the mid-20th century. Established as a localized adaptation of the popular American fable and cartoon motifs, the publication served as a vital piece of Cuban popular culture, blending moralistic storytelling with accessible, humorous illustration styles. Issue #197 arrived during a period when the series was a staple of newsstands across the island, reflecting the aesthetic sensibilities of regional illustrators who sought to provide entertainment that resonated with both children and adult readers.

The design of these issues relied on the classic visual archetypes of the fox and the crow, drawing inspiration from La Fontaine’s fables while adapting them for a serialized format. The artists utilized bold linework and distinct color palettes, characteristic of the printing limitations and artistic trends of the era. The series was widely received as a cornerstone of Cuban literacy and leisure, serving as a primary point of contact for many generations with comic book culture prior to shifts in the national publishing landscape.
