Where it came from
La Zorra y el Cuervo was a beloved Cuban humor magazine that began publication in the mid-1960s, emerging as a prominent platform for satire and political caricature under the sponsorship of the Union of Journalists of Cuba. Issue 198 arrived during a period when the publication had firmly established itself as a cultural touchstone, blending witty social commentary with the iconic visual language of its titular fox and crow characters.
The visual identity of the magazine was shaped by a rotation of talented Cuban illustrators who emphasized expressive, minimalist lines to convey complex social critiques. By the time this specific issue was released, the editorial team aimed to maintain a delicate balance between institutional visibility and the irreverent spirit of traditional comic strips, a legacy that has since made these physical copies highly sought after by collectors of Caribbean graphic arts.
