Where it came from
La Zorra y el Cuervo was a prominent Cuban comic magazine, established in the late 1960s to serve as a cornerstone of the island's domestic illustrated literature. Modeled after successful international anthologies, the publication was designed to provide accessible, educational, and humorous content to children and young readers, functioning under the oversight of the state-run Editorial Abril.
The character designs and storytelling style were heavily influenced by the visual aesthetics of classic mid-century animation and folk fables. By the time issue #196 reached circulation, the series had solidified its identity as a cultural staple, characterized by its distinctively colorful, paper-based printing process and a rotation of local artists who focused on themes of wit, morality, and lighthearted antagonism between the titular fox and crow.
