La Zorra y el Cuervo #222

La Zorra y el Cuervo was a beloved Cuban humor magazine that drew its primary inspiration from the Aesop fable of the fox and the crow. Established in the mid-1960s, the publication served as a vital platform for Cuban graphic satire, blending political commentary with everyday observations. It became a cultural institution by providing a space for artists to critique social norms and international events through sharp wit and distinctively stylized caricature.

The design and artistic direction of the magazine were rooted in the post-revolutionary boom of Cuban graphic arts, which emphasized bold lines, minimalist aesthetic influences, and expressive character work. Issue 222 arrived during a period where the magazine had solidified its visual identity, featuring recurring archetypes that readers recognized instantly. While specific authorship of every panel in a serial issue often involved a collaborative editorial team, the magazine's longevity and impact on Caribbean visual culture were largely due to its consistent commitment to accessible, satirical storytelling.
