Lady Death: Immortal Deception #1

Lady Death: Immortal Deception #1 was released in 2005 as part of the long-running Lady Death franchise, which originated in the early 1990s through Chaos! Comics. Created by Brian Pulido, the character became a cornerstone of the bad girl art movement in independent comics. This specific title was published during a period of transition for the character, aimed at re-establishing her mythological lore and dark fantasy aesthetic for a new generation of readers who favored high-detail, stylized illustrations.

The visual direction for the series continued the brand's tradition of featuring provocative, gothic-inspired cover art and character designs. The creative approach prioritized an atmosphere of supernatural epic fantasy, blending visceral storytelling with the iconic aesthetic that had established Lady Death as a recognizable cult figure. While the series was received primarily by a dedicated base of existing fans, it serves as a distinct marker of the mid-2000s trend in niche independent publishing where creator-owned properties leaned heavily into expanded mythos and detailed collector-focused variants.
