Leçons de Vie avec Grand Frère Uramichi #2

Leçons de Vie avec Grand Frère Uramichi, authored and illustrated by Gaku Kuze, began as a web manga series on the Pixiv Comic platform before gaining significant traction and moving into print via Ichijinsha. The second volume continues the cynical, deadpan exploration of Uramichi Omota, a former gymnast now working as a host on a children’s television program, who struggles to balance the artificial cheerfulness required by his role with the crushing realities of his adult life.

The design of the series reflects a stark, comedic contrast between the bright, pastel-heavy aesthetic of children's entertainment and the bleak, monochromatic interiority of its protagonist. Kuze’s artistic choices—ranging from the polished character designs of the TV show segments to the detailed, weary expressions of the staff behind the scenes—were intended to resonate with the professional anxieties of contemporary Japanese office workers. The work was warmly received for its relatable, dark humor, eventually earning an anime adaptation that further solidified its place in modern slice-of-life comedy.
