Leçons de Vie avec Grand Frère Uramichi #1

Leçons de Vie avec Grand Frère Uramichi, known in Japan as Uramichi Oniisan, began as a web manga series created by Gaku Kuze in 2017. The story centers on Uramichi Omota, a thirty-one-year-old gymnastics instructor for a children's television program, who struggles with the contrast between his cheerful on-air persona and his cynical, world-weary personality. The first volume collects the initial chapters that introduced this dark comedy, which quickly gained popularity for its relatable and brutally honest depiction of adult life.

Gaku Kuze’s art style relies on clean, expressive linework that emphasizes the character's deadpan facial expressions. The design of the first volume and the series at large was aimed at subverting the upbeat tropes of educational children's programming. The series was met with widespread critical success for its dry humor and biting satire of the corporate workforce, eventually earning an anime adaptation that further expanded its reach among global audiences.
