Legion of Super-Heroes #24

Legion of Super-Heroes #24 was published by DC Comics in 1976 during the era when the series was firmly established in Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes. This period, overseen by writer Jim Shooter and artist Mike Grell, is often cited by collectors for its maturation of the Legion’s narrative themes. The issue reflects the ongoing effort to balance the large cast of teenage heroes with increasingly complex science-fiction plots, a hallmark of the title's evolution from a backup feature to a cornerstone of the DC Universe.

The visual identity of this era is heavily defined by Mike Grell’s work, who transitioned the characters into more distinct, modern costumes that moved away from their earlier, uniform appearance. His artistic vision helped solidify the Legion's aesthetic for the late 1970s, prioritizing dynamic character expressions and intricate world-building. Reception at the time was strong among fans of the genre, as the series successfully navigated the shift toward more character-driven storytelling while maintaining the expansive scope of the 30th-century setting.
