Legion of Super-Heroes #28

Legion of Super-Heroes #28 was published in 1976 during a transformative era for DC Comics. As part of the title's shift toward more mature, sophisticated storytelling under the guidance of writer Jim Shooter, this issue features the artistic contributions of Mike Grell. Grell's tenure on the book is widely regarded for bringing a more grounded, cinematic aesthetic to the Legion's futuristic setting, moving away from the more whimsical tones of earlier Silver Age incarnations.

This specific issue sits within a period where the Legion was gaining significant creative momentum, often cited by fans and historians as the point where the series solidified its identity as a premier science-fiction ensemble drama. The design approach during this run emphasized cohesive team dynamics and intricate world-building, which helped the title maintain its dedicated following long after its initial introduction in the 1950s.
