Where it came from
The Lodoss War: Deedlit's Tale, originally published in Japan as Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit's Story, is a manga spin-off series written by Ryo Mizuno and illustrated by Setsuko Yoneyama. Emerging from the broader Record of Lodoss War franchise, which began as a series of fantasy replays of Dungeons & Dragons sessions, the manga focuses specifically on the elven high-elf protagonist Deedlit. This series was crafted to deepen the character's personal history, bridging gaps in the lore of the cursed island of Lodoss through an intimate perspective.
The artistic direction by Setsuko Yoneyama sought to capture the ethereal and romanticized aesthetic of the original fantasy novels while adapting the narrative to the visual pacing of a serialized comic. Upon its release, the work was well-received by fans of the series who were eager for more character-driven storytelling within the established world-building of Mizuno’s fantasy epic. The Brazilian release, titled Crônicas da Guerra de Lodoss: A História de Deedlit, brought this specific narrative arc to Portuguese-speaking audiences, maintaining the visual integrity of the original Japanese publication.
