Where it came from
The Record of Lodoss War: The Grey Witch, titled Crônicas da Guerra de Lodoss: A Lenda do Cavaleiro in Brazil, is a manga adaptation based on the popular Japanese fantasy novels by Ryo Mizuno. Originally released in the 1980s and 90s, the story emerged from the author's Dungeons & Dragons tabletop campaigns. The manga adaptation, illustrated by Yoshihiko Yamada, was designed to translate the high-fantasy aesthetic of the novels and the subsequent anime into a serialized graphic format, emphasizing character-driven adventure and classical RPG tropes.
The Brazilian publication by Editora JBC brought the series to a broader audience during the growth of the manga market in Latin America. The release of the third issue followed the established narrative trajectory of the source material, maintaining the detailed character designs and elaborate world-building that defined the Lodoss franchise. The series was generally well-received by fans of the genre for its faithful adaptation of the dark, sweeping fantasy themes that helped define the 'isekai' and epic fantasy subgenres in manga during that era.
