Where it came from
The Record of Lodoss War: The Legend of the Knight (A Lenda do Cavaleiro) was published in Brazil to bring the classic Japanese high fantasy franchise to a wider Lusophone audience. Originating from the tabletop RPG sessions of the Group SNE, the series was adapted into various manga and light novel formats, with this specific title focusing on the origins of Parn. It reflects the 1990s boom in popularity for Japanese media, aiming to capture the aesthetic of Western Dungeons & Dragons style adventuring through a distinctively anime-inspired lens.
The visual direction for this series is rooted in the work of original character designer Yutaka Izubuchi and manga artists who expanded the lore of the cursed island of Lodoss. The Brazilian release was curated to maintain the epic scale of the original narrative, emphasizing intricate line work and character-driven world-building. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans of the genre who appreciated the accessibility of the serialized format, which served as a gateway to the broader Lodoss War mythos.
