Lupo Alberto Collection #7

Lupo Alberto, created by Silver (Guido Silvestri) in 1974, stands as one of Italy's most enduring comic strip characters. The character originated as a humorous take on rural life, featuring a wolf named Alberto who is perpetually in love with a hen named Marta, all while navigating the eccentric inhabitants of the McKenzie farm. Issue number 7 of the collection serves as part of the ongoing effort to archive and reprint the classic strips that originally appeared in publications like Corriere dei Ragazzi, preserving the slapstick wit and satirical tone that defined Silver's work for decades.

The aesthetic of the Lupo Alberto series is defined by its clean, expressive line work and its ability to blend absurdity with relatable social commentary. Silver’s design choices—characterized by simple, rounded character shapes and dynamic, kinetic movement—allowed the humor to remain accessible to all ages while maintaining a distinctively Italian voice. Upon its release, the series was widely lauded for its longevity and cultural impact, becoming a staple of Italian pop culture and cementing Silver’s status as a master of the comedic strip format.
