Madrox #5

Madrox #5, released in 2005, serves as the conclusion to the five-part limited series written by Peter David. This series was pivotal in repositioning Jamie Madrox, the Multiple Man, as a lead character rather than a supporting mutant, establishing him as a private investigator in the X-Factor Investigations agency. The story leans heavily into David’s signature blend of noir sensibilities and superhero dynamics, providing a grounded, character-driven look at the consequences of Madrox’s power to create independent duplicates of himself.

The interior art was provided by Pablo Raimondi, whose illustrative style emphasizes the psychological tension and gritty atmosphere of the series. The narrative explores the existential dread inherent in Madrox's existence, focusing on the distinct personalities his duplicates develop. The title was well-received by critics and fans alike, effectively launching the long-running X-Factor series that would follow, and is regarded as a defining character piece for the protagonist within the Marvel Universe.
