Where it came from
Mahō Shōjo Kazumi☆Magica: The Innocent Malice #4 is a volume in the spin-off manga series based on the Puella Magi Madoka Magica franchise. Published in the early 2010s, this series was created to expand the narrative scope of the original anime, shifting the setting to the city of Asunaro and introducing a new cast of magical girls. The work was written by Masaki Hiramatsu and illustrated by Takashi Tensugi, who aimed to maintain the dark, psychological tone established by the original series while exploring different facets of the magical girl contract.
The art style of this volume leans into a slightly more action-oriented aesthetic while retaining the iconic character designs characteristic of the franchise. It follows the protagonist, Kazumi, as she navigates mysteries surrounding her identity and the truth behind the Pleiades Saints. The series received attention from fans of the magical girl genre for its willingness to subvert traditional tropes, and this particular volume represents a crucial turning point in the unfolding plot.
