Many Ghosts of Dr. Graves #41

Published by Charlton Comics in 1974, The Many Ghosts of Dr. Graves was a staple of the company's horror anthology line. The series centered on the titular parapsychologist, Dr. Marcus Graves, who acted as a narrator and investigator for supernatural phenomena. Issue #41 emerged during the twilight years of the Bronze Age of comics, a period when the industry was exploring more atmospheric and morality-driven horror tales while navigating the strictures of the Comics Code Authority.

The art and stories within this issue reflect the house style of Charlton, which often relied on a rotating team of creators who utilized distinct, somewhat gritty aesthetic approaches to differentiate their anthologies from industry giants like DC or Marvel. While the writers and illustrators for this specific issue remained largely anonymous in the tradition of the publisher's low-budget, high-output production model, the work is noted by collectors for its quintessential 1970s horror sensibilities, characterized by dramatic tension and the iconic, gothic presentation of Dr. Graves himself.
