Marc Spector: Moon Knight #2

Published in July 1989, Marc Spector: Moon Knight #2 served as the second installment in a series intended to modernize the vigilante’s status within the Marvel Universe. Following the character's earlier appearances in the 1970s and 80s, this run sought to establish a more grounded, gritty tone for Marc Spector as he navigated his complex identity and fluctuating mental state. The narrative sought to leverage the darker, post-Watchmen sensibilities prevalent in late 1980s comics.

The issue features artwork by Sal Velluto, whose clean, sharp lines were instrumental in defining the visual aesthetic of the series. The character design aimed to emphasize Spector’s tactical gear and his tactical prowess, balancing his supernatural origins with a grounded detective-style approach to crime-fighting. The series was generally well-received by fans of the character, praised for its consistency in art and its deepening of the complex, often fractured psyche of its lead protagonist.
