Marvel Masterworks #24

Marvel Masterworks volume 24, released in 1993, serves as a significant installment in the long-running archival series launched by Marvel Comics in 1987. This specific volume collects The Incredible Hulk issues #1-6, originally published in 1962 and 1963. The series was created to preserve Marvel's Silver Age history by reprinting classic stories in high-quality, hardcover formats, catering to a growing market of comic book collectors who sought to own formative superhero lore in a durable, curated state.

The source material features the debut of the Hulk, conceived by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby as a tragic, Frankenstein-inspired figure caught in the anxieties of the early Cold War era. While the initial run was famously brief—lasting only six issues before cancellation—the series laid the foundational character dynamics and iconography of the gamma-irradiated giant. By the time this Masterworks volume was compiled, the character had achieved global cultural recognition, leading the editorial team to prioritize these seminal, Kirby-illustrated tales for historical preservation.
