Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #11

Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #11 was published in 1984 as the penultimate installment of the landmark limited series. Conceived by Marvel editor-in-chief Jim Shooter, the project was created primarily as a marketing vehicle for Mattel to launch a line of action figures based on Marvel's most iconic characters. The narrative thrust of the issue sees the cosmic entity known as the Beyonder exerting his influence, forcing the heroes and villains into a climactic confrontation on Battleworld.

The issue features art by Mike Zeck, whose distinct, clean style helped define the look of the mid-1980s Marvel aesthetic. Alongside writer Jim Shooter, Zeck was tasked with balancing an expansive ensemble cast across a complex, high-stakes plot. Upon release, the series was a commercial success, effectively bridging the gap between toy industry interests and long-form comic book storytelling, and it remains a significant touchstone for collectors of the Bronze Age of comics.
