Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #4

Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #4 was released in 1984 as part of a groundbreaking twelve-issue limited series, which was famously conceived by Marvel Comics to support a line of action figures from Mattel. The series brought together Marvel's most iconic heroes and villains on a cosmic stage orchestrated by the entity known as the Beyonder, requiring a narrative structure that could justify such a large-scale crossover while maintaining individual character stakes.

The interior art for this issue was provided by Mike Zeck, whose disciplined and dynamic style helped define the look of the mid-1980s Marvel aesthetic. Issue #4 is particularly significant as it continues the escalation of the conflict on Battleworld, focusing on the tactical maneuvers and shifting alliances among the cast. At the time of its publication, the series was received as an ambitious experiment in corporate synergy, successfully bridging the gap between toy marketing and long-form comic book storytelling.
